The purpose of this position is to support and coordinate the delivery of the Association’s bushfire related products and services and to continuously pursue opportunities to enhance the Association’s offering in relation to the field of bushfire safety. 

The role will involve the daily coordination and support of bushfire related services and products offered by the Association with a strong focus on the Bushfire Planning and Design Accreditation Scheme (BPAD Scheme). 

Part of the responsibilities include developing and writing responses for  technical advice and assistance to relevant stakeholders, responding to technical queries and planning regular Continuing Professional Development activities such as training courses, seminars, and conferences. 

What you will do: 

  • Support and coordinate the operation of the BPAD Scheme including:
  • Assess new applications and renewals by reviewing applicants’ skills, knowledge and competency
  • Help develop the expansion of the BPAD Scheme as appropriate
  • Be a part of the establishment and operation of Bushfire Working Groups in relevant States and Territories. This includes running working group meetings (minutes, agendas, action items) 
  • Coordinate and develop a range of supporting documents 
  • Assist in the delivery of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) sessions and other educational activities related to bushfire for all internal and external stakeholders 
  • Work and assist on the preparation of technical documents and review of technical submissions to relevant bodies in the Bushfire Sector 


Requirements

What you need: 

  • Minimum of 3+ year experience working in the bushfire building and planning sector in either a regulatory or consultancy role.
  • Post Grad qualification in in Bushfire Protection 
  • A high level of technical knowledge in the bushfire protection field, including a solid understanding of the building and planning systems in relation to bushfire protection
  • Possessing a strong awareness of key legislation, standards and codes that affect bushfire protection.
  • An understanding of the national requirements and practices in relation to bushfire building and planning systems would be beneficial.
  • Exceptional organisational, communication and time management skills.
  • Excellent relationship management skills with a variety of stakeholders including members, government departments both federal and local and other key related organisations.
  • Highly developed and advanced administrative skills including advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint and use of Internet and email.
  • Proven ability to produce professional technical documents, reports and presentations
  • Ability to work without supervision.
